Hulya Gilbert, PhD
Hulya is an urban planner and researcher with 15 years of industry experience with both local government and non-government sectors. Her PhD research project examined the role of child and youth friendly places in creating socially and environmentally sustainable communities through the promotion of active and public transport and active play. This PhD research project was awarded:
- Award for Planning Excellence by the Planning Institute of Australia, SA
- John Lewis Prize by the Royal Geographical Society of SA
Prior to starting her academic career, Hulya worked as the Planning Adviser for the Office of Catholic Education, South Australia, providing social and strategic planning advice, conducting GIS analysis in relation to the socio-spatial needs of individual schools and the whole of Catholic education as a sector.
